Hospital Companion Pathway Program

Program Overview

Penn Foster’s online Hospital Companion Pathway program will prepare students to perform the day-to-day activities of patient care specifically aligned with the activities of daily living (ADLs), including changing, dressing, and helping patients bathe and toilet.

Students will learn to identify changes in patient condition, including physical and behavioral changes, and report them to the appropriate patient care team member.

The program will train students how to establish and maintain a clean and sanitary environment for the patient and assure that established safety and infection control practices are observed.

This program will prepare learners for roles such as Hospital Companion, Companion Care Private Duty Sitter, Companion Care Assistant, Patient Companion, and Patient Safety Companion.
